AMD keeps a low profile - leaks give an idea of the performance of the next Radeons
However, the Radeon RX 9070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT are due to be released shortly...
All the rumours were pointing in the same direction, namely that AMD and NVIDIA were going to use the CES show in Las Vegas to unveil their new graphics cards. From January 7 to 10, the Consumer Electronic Show 2025 was held in Nevada's largest city. As a prelude to the event, NVIDIA did indeed unveil its entire new range, from the GeForce RTX 5070 to the GeForce RTX 5090. On the other hand, AMD was much more "subtle", to put it politely. While the American firm did confirm its Radeon RX 9070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT, it was mainly through an introduction to its new FSR 4 technology, its image enhancement and performance boosting technique. In fact, no card, no price and no release date have been confirmed by AMD, although models have already been spotted at certain retailers and numerous photos have been leaked all over the Net.
These leaks also reveal a little more about the performance to be expected from cards that AMD itself is not focusing on the high-end, but rather on the heart of the market, the segment that really counts: the mid-range. For example, the VideoCardz site noted the presence on the Chiphell forums of measurements on the games Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth Wukong, two of the most demanding titles of the moment. Well, the performance isn't bad at all: on Cyberpunk 2077, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is more or less on a par with NVIDIA's mid-range cards, in particular the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER... without path tracing though. On the Black Myth Wukong game, it's even better for AMD, since this same Radeon RX 9070 XT is even closer to the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER - hard to call it a mid-range card at this performance level! So there's every reason to be optimistic about this new generation of Radeon, even though NVIDIA of course also has its new GeForce, and DLSS 4 seems to be sending out the big guns!
