NVIDIA sells GeForce RTX 5070 at below recommended retail price
While this has yet to affect the French market, it's not impossible that it will happen very soon.
Since the release of NVIDIA's first GeForce RTX 50 series on January 30, we've talked several times about limited stocks and the resulting inflation. So it's only natural that we should be talking about the trend reversal we've been observing over the last few days. While the top-of-the-range models are still hard to find and don't seem likely to see a price drop, the same cannot be said for the latest cards launched by NVIDIA, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and, even more so, the GeForce RTX 5070.
Indeed, the latter are widely available in stores just about everywhere in the world. More importantly, wider availability means a change in pricing direction. There's no longer any question - at least on these models - of ending up with prices that shatter NVIDIA's recommended retail price, and in the UK we're even starting to talk about prices below what the English call the MSRP. When the GeForce RTX 5070 was launched in the UK, NVIDIA set the price at £539. A few weeks later, due to the dollar's fall against the pound, the American brand lowered this MSRP to 529 pounds, but one retailer is even offering the Gainward GeForce RTX 5070 Python III at 518.99 pounds!
There's no mention of such prices in France yet, but as NVIDIA finally seems to be able to satisfy demand, it's not impossible that we'll find increasingly attractive prices in the Hexagone too. Who knows, the tariffs Donald Trump is seeking to impose could also force graphics card manufacturers to redirect their production to the Old Continent, and more supply for stable demand means lower prices. Time will tell...
