9/16 - Update your drivers

The My Drivers service will allow you to update your drivers. It is important to keep them up to date. This allows to fix bugs (especially BSOD) and to improve the system performance for some drivers. This service works with a semi automated DriversCloud technology running in the cloud.

19

The black title bar gives access to the left to the chosen machine and the operating system for which you are looking for drivers. If you choose another system than your current one, all the drivers will be proposed to you and not the most recent ones.

28

The options button on the right of the black title bar gives access to the MyPilots service preferences.

29

The first option activated by default allows to access only the most recent drivers than your current drivers. The second option allows you to display all the hardware, even those without drivers in the DriversCloud database. The next two options display respectively WHQL drivers and beta drivers. The penultimate option offers drivers specific to the manufacturer (HP, Dell..). Finally the last option allows you to display the same hardware names as those displayed in the device manager. Indeed by default we display the names in our own hardware database.

30

The MyDrivers service displays the different hardware for each category (Graphics card, USB, etc...). For each hardware it displays the most recent driver available in the DriversCloud database. It is possible to access older versions by clicking on the plus button.

In front of each driver you have a colored circle indicating its status. If the color is green the proposed driver is newer than the installed driver. If it is red it is older. If it is grey it is the same. If it is blue only the information of the installed driver is available. You will also find a note on the relevance of the proposed driver. This note is calculated from an internal algorithm checking several criteria. The date of the inf file proposed by the MyDrivers service is also indicated. Finally, on the right hand side, you will find a button to the driver's download file.

32

You can click on a driver to display the details. In the left section you will find the information about the proposed driver and on the right the information about the already installed driver.

31

MesDrivers service also shows you if the driver is incorrectly installed with a red warning sign. If there is no driver installed and no information is available a blue circle will appear.

33

By clicking on the Download button, you are redirected to a driver download form. Depending on the size of the driver and the availability of the manufacturer's link you will find one or two blue buttons on the form to download the driver from the manufacturer's servers or/and from our own servers.

34

At the bottom of the form you get details about the downloaded driver but also the information about the inf file proposed by our service MesPilotes

Tips for using the MyDrivers service:

28

Before starting to install the drivers it is recommended to create a restore point on Windows. A button in the black title bar is available to perform this task. Indeed, drivers are not free of bugs.

You should only install one driver per hardware, the most recent one. You can then test the others if the first one was not adequate.

If you install a driver without installer. You have to install it manually through the device manager. Display the driver details to find the name of the INF file to select. We invite you to read our file on the subject: Installing your drivers.

The MyDrivers service relies on the information contained in the INF files to index the drivers. Unfortunately, several manufacturers do not fill in these INF files correctly or do not install all the drivers on the machine. This is the case, for example, withIntel's Chipset Device Software Driver. Therefore, it is very common that after installing the drivers and redetecting them, the drivers still appear in the list. We advise you to ignore it.

In some cases, as for example with the wifi keys, a driver from another manufacturer may be proposed. Indeed, several manufacturers subcontract the manufacturing of hardware to other manufacturers, but in reality the hardware remains identical.
