Nintendo takes its time: the Switch 2 will be unveiled in early April
Only a matter of weeks to go before we discover all the information about the Switch 2.
Released worldwide on March 3, 2017, the Switch first of the name had been placed by Nintendo opposite Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One while its power remained behind. More "embarrassing" for Nintendo, the console remains today the only machine marketed by the Japanese company, while Microsoft and Sony have launched a new generation of consoles with, respectively, the Xbox Series and the PlayStation 5. The latter has already undergone two evolutions with the PlayStation 5 Slim and PlayStation 5 Pro, while Nintendo remains glued to its Switch.
Well, that's not exactly true anymore, and hasn't been for a while. Nintendo is working on a replacement for its Switch, to be known simply as Switch 2. A false start had led us to believe that an announcement would be made during or just after CES in Las Vegas, at the beginning of January, but in the end it will be four months later, at the beginning of April. This time, it's not information that raises the slightest doubt, since it comes directly from Nintendo, from the Japanese firm's X.com account to be exact.
There's no need to expect too much from Nintendo just yet. The company likes to keep things tightly under wraps, and the message posted on X.com is laconic to say the least, as you can see above: we'll be seeing you on April 2, and even at that time, so that you don't miss out on what promises to be a must-see for all gamers. Mind you, we're a bit of a tongue in cheek, because in the wake of this post, Nintendo has confirmed a second appointment that should be even more interesting for all fans.
After " taking a closer look at the Nintendo Switch 2 ", as it explains itself, Nintendo should indeed be back just 48 hours after this Nintendo Direct event. This time, it's the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience, an event during which a few lucky people will have the opportunity to discover the console. Nintendo doesn't make it very clear, but with a name like that, we can't help but think that the machine will indeed be playable during the event, which will take place from April 4 to 6 in Paris. Other sessions are planned all over the world, but Paris will be the first.
Other dates include Melbourne (Australia) on May 10 and 11, and Seoul (South Korea) on May 31 and June 1ᵉʳ. We have no details on other dates, but all this obviously raises the question of the console's launch. Could Nintendo bring it to market well before Christmas? Perhaps during the summer?
