Firaxis' new strategy/management game remains reasonable in terms of machine power.
A few days ago, we reported on Flight Simulator 2024. Microsoft's new flight simulation promises a small graphical revolution, with, for example, " a 4,000-fold increase in the level of detail of the virtual environment ". The problem for many gamers is that the recommended configuration for the game, developed by the French Asobo, is so demanding that it will be hard to get the most out of it: for example, 64 GB RAM, an Intel Core i7-14700K or AMD Ryzen 9 7900X processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card are required for the "ideal" configuration.
Strategy fans are better off. A few weeks ago, Firaxis and 2K Games announced the forthcoming release of Sid Meier's Civilization VII, the seventh opus in the famous franchise. The seventh opus isn't due to arrive until February 11, but everything seems to be going well with development, since the studio and publisher have decided to publish a list of recommended system configurations for the game. And the good news is that everything suggests that your current machine will be sufficient to run the game.

Published on X.com, this list of recommended configurations for Civilization VII is indeed reasonable, a point no doubt to be put in relation with the fact that the game will also be released on consoles and, in particular, on Nintendo Switch. In any case, to run the game, you'll need no more than an Intel Core i5-4690, an Intel Core i3-10100 or an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 and 8 GB of RAM. For the graphics card, all you need is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050, AMD RX 460 or Intel Arc A380, and just 20 GB of disk space.
That said, to enjoy "ultra" gaming, the configuration required is already much less modest, although we don't quite understand why: Firaxis doesn't highlight any particular graphic effects, but does emphasize that the "ultra" configuration is there to play in 4K at 60 frames per second. You'll need an Intel Core i7-14700KF or an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and 32 GB of RAM. The graphics card should be an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 or an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, but we're still talking about 20 GB of storage space. See you on February 11, 2025.
